Founder’s Old Fashioned

A refined twist on the classic Old Fashioned
Stirred to perfection with a semi-rich Demerara syrup and poured over a large ice cube. We delicately flame the orange peel to infuse the drink with toasted orange aromas and flavors.

What you'll need

  • 2 ounces Stonestreet Bourbon 
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters 
  • 1/4 ounce semi-rich Demerara syrup 
  • Large ice cube 
  • Orange swath for garnish 
  • A match 
  • Tiny clothespin  

How to make it

  1. In a mixing glass, add the bitters, syrup, and bourbon. 
  2. Add ice and stir until properly chilled and diluted, about 40 to 50 revolutions. 
  3. Strain over a large ice cube in a rocks glass. 
  4. Garnish with a flamed orange peel.  


ORANGE SWATH GARNISH

Use an Ostehøvel cheese peeler to peel the orange, ensuring the swath has a uniform shape. Hold the swath at an angle over the top, flame it to release the oils, then rub the oils around the rim of the glass. Clip the swath to the side of the glass for the final presentation.
